Collet Named First-Team Academic All-America

College of Idaho women’s golfer Trish Gibbens and men’s tennis player James Collet were honored today as first-team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, announced by the CoSIDA office in Towson, Md.

Gibbens, from Caldwell, and Collet, from Pocatello, were honored as part of the at-large team, comprising the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.

Collet becomes the first C of I student-athlete to be a two-time Academic All-American, while the duo ads to the all-time list of Academic All-Americans – joining third-team pick Jesse Dodd (Baseball ’12), and first-team picks Ciciley Fox (Volleyball ’11) and Coe Michaelson (Men’s Soccer ’02).

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
