BEAVERTON, Ore. - After losing 2-of-3 doubles' matches, George Fox University rallied to sweep all six singles' points, as the Bruins toppled the College of Idaho, 7-2, this morning inside the Tualatin Hills Tennis Center.
The match turned after the Bruins (4-4) grabbed tough victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles - then rolled to three quick wins at the bottom half of the ladder.
The Lady Yotes (1-6) used quality play in the tandem matches to take the early advantage. Emily Tesnohlidek and Allie Boyd fought off Chantelle Hadeed and Taylor Barnes for a 9-7 win at No. 1, with Shae Stults and Tanya Greenwood crusing to an 8-3 victory at No. 2 over Alyssa Emoto and Krista Rey.
GFU evened the match at 2-2 after Emoto defeated Stults 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, but the Bruins grinded out the two key wins in the next two matches to earn the victory. Hadeed fought off Tesnohlidek 7-5, 7-5, while Barnes rallied from a set down to defeat Boyd 6-7, 7-5, 6-0.
