FOREST GROVE, Ore. - A near perfect day from Cassie Low and Emilee Chapman helped the College of Idaho split a pair of road matches today in the Willamette Valley, losing a morning match to Willamette, 5-4, before holding off Pacific in the afternoon, 5-4.
The win for the Lady Yotes (1-5) was their first against a Northwest Conference team since a 7-2 victory over Pacific Lutheran in 2010.
Against Willamette, the Bearcats grabbed all three doubles points and claimed victories in the top-two singles spots to secure the win. C of I got wins in each of the bottom four spots in the ladder, including a tough 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 5 by Low over Taylor Coggeshall, and a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 from Chapman.
Against Pacific, C of I took 2-of-3 doubles' points, including a convincing 8-1 win at No. 3 by Low and Chapman over Danielle Wicks and Kelly Flores. The two teamed up in singles' play as well, Low dispatching Flores at No. 5, 6-4, 6-2, while Chapman at No. 6 beat Danielle Hunter, 6-3, 6-3. Allie Boyd sealed the match with a quick 6-1, 6-1 win over Wicks at No. 4.
