SPANAWAY, Wash. - Shae Stults picked up her first win of the season at No. 1 singles' as The College of Idaho played some of their best tennis of the season in an 8-1 loss to Pacific Lutheran at Sprinker Recreation Center.
The sophomore won a hard-fought 6-4, 7-6 match-up with the Lutes (6-3) Samantha Lund at the top of the ladder - as the Lady Yotes (0-5) played well in singles' play.
"This way the best tennis we have played this season, the team is really coming around," said head coach Cisco Limbago. "I am excited to see how we play tomorrow against Skagit Valley and look for us to make a breakthrough when we get to Hawaii for Spring Break."
Hayley Hutchings continued her solid play at No. 2, dropping a tough 6-4, 7-5 decision to Leah Newell, while Emily Tashnolidek battled at No. 3 against Tina Aarsvold, before losing 6-4, 7-6. The Yotes won five games in each of the other three singles' matches.
PLU swept doubles' play, with the Yotes best showing a 8-4 loss by Hutchings and Stults at No. 1.
The C of I closes out their trip with a match tomorrow at Skagit Valley CC.
