CALDWELL, Idaho – Liz Myers pounded out a match-high 16 kills, helping The College of Idaho complete a season sweep of No. 20 ranked Concordia, stopping the Cavaliers 25-20, 25-22, 25-16 inside the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The victory moves the Lady Yotes (12-9, 12-2 CCC) into sole possession of second-place in the Cascade Conference standings with two weeks remaining in the regular-season.
Myers was dominant in the opening set, recording eight kills in 10 swings – including a pair of spikes in an early 5-1 run to break a 3-3 tie, as the Yotes never trailed again in the period.
Set 2 saw 10 ties and seven lead changes, as the Yotes used a five-point surge early on to take a 10-8 lead, only to watch the Cavaliers (18-6, 11-4) battle back behind a pair of Mariah Raudsepp kills to take a 22-20 lead. Lili Brochado answered for C of I, blasting three kills in a five-point push to earn the set win.
Set 3 was all C of I, as Myers and Brochado each had three kills in an opening 8-4 run – as the Yotes built a 20-10 lead and were never threatened.
Brochado had 11 kills and Kylee Nawahine had nine kills and 21 digs in the victory. Jayde Folsom had 42 assists and eight digs, with Janel Porter adding 20 digs for the Coyotes.
CU was led by seven kills each from Raudsepp and Brenna Huwe, with Melanie Miller and Brianna Hogan each recording six. Lindsay Mangan had 27 assists and nine digs for the Cavs, with Leslie Hanks leading the squad with 17 digs.
C of I hits the road next weekend for road matches at Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon.
