CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho volleyball team remained unbeaten Friday afternoon, sweeping Walla Walla 25-6, 25-17, 25-14 to improve to 14-0 overall and 7-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.
The Yotes set the tone immediately, hitting .565 in the opening set while holding Walla Walla to a -.176 attack percentage. College of Idaho jumped out to an early 8-2 lead and never looked back, closing the set on a 7-0 run.
The Yotes continued to control the match in the second set, hitting .348 while building leads of 10-3 and 20-10. C of I closed the set with three straight points, capped by a kill from Julia Baird.
Even with a deep rotation taking the court in the third set, the Yotes continued to dominate. College of Idaho tied the third set at 3-3, but later responded with a 11-1 run to take a 16-8 advantage. The Yotes never allowed the Wolves closer than seven points the rest of the way.
College of Idaho finished the match with a .444 attack percentage, recording 38 kills against just six errors. The Yotes also held Walla Walla to a .027 hitting percentage and finished with 10 service aces and 12 blocks.
Baird led the Yotes with six kills while adding a block and an ace for 6.5 points. Addison McKarcher recorded five kills and four block assists, while Keylee Wilson and Cora Young each added four kills. Shaynee McWilliams directed the offense with 22 assists in two sets.
Walla Walla was led by Sahara Browning, who recorded 10 kills, while Kienna Stepper added five kills. The Wolves fell to 3-6 overall and 3-4 in CCC play.
College of Idaho returns to action with its unbeaten record intact as the Yotes continue CCC play at home on Saturday against Lewis-Clark State College.
