ACCOMPLISHMENTS AT C OF I:
Morgan is in his third season with the Coyote men's basketball program. He has been recognized as a First Team All-American and the MVP of the CCC. His accomplishments include a Final Four finish (2024), being named to the All-Tournament team twice (2023-2024), winning three CCC regular season championships (2022-2024), making three National Tournament appearances (2022-2024), securing a National Championship (2023), winning two CCC Conference Tournament championships (2022, 2023), and achieving an Elite Eight finish (2022).
2023-24: Played in 36 games, starting in 35… averaged 24.6 minutes per game, making 48.0% of his shots from the field… scored a total of 516 points, averaging 14.3 points per game… recorded 141 assists, averaging 3.9 assists per game… contributed 65 rebounds, with 16 offensive and 49 defensive… registered 0 blocks and 38 steals… had a free-throw percentage of 82.0% (123 of 150)… made 37 three-pointers during the season.
2022-23: Played in 37 games...averaged 20.8 minutes per game... averaged 9.1 points, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 rebounds per game... led the Yotes on the year in assists (177)... 6th leading scorer on the team (336)... scored in double digits in 16 games... had 5 or more assists with 0 turnovers in five games... scored a career high 16 points against Walla Walla (Dec. 30)... put up a double double, with 13 points and a career high 11 assists against Oregon Tech (Jan. 20)... scored 13 points in the NAIA National Championship game against Indiana Tech (Mar. 18).
Total: Played in 74 games, starting in 35… averaged 22.7 minutes per game, making 45.3% of his shots from the field… scored a total of 855 points, averaging 11.6 points per game… recorded 326 assists, averaging 4.4 assists per game… contributed 119 rebounds, with 25 offensive and 94 defensive… registered 4 blocks and 101 steals… had a free-throw percentage of 77.8% (179 of 230).
HIGH SCHOOL:
A 2022 graduate of Churchill High School in Eugene, Oregon, where he garnered multiple honors including Oregon 5A State Player of the Year, first team all-state and Oregon All-State recognition. He is the younger brother of Assistant Coach Manny Morgan.
PERSONAL:
Joining the Yote Fam from Eugene, OR, Samaje was raised by Shakelah and Arnold Morgan. Aside from his efforts on the court, Samaje is also working hard in the classroom in pursuit of a degree in Philosophy. He chose The College of Idaho because it is a great school with a strong community and basketball program.
