CALDWELL, Idaho – A pair of Yotes earned conference recognition Monday as
Abbi Roubidoux was named Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Week and
Trezell Patterson was selected as Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week following standout performances in nationally ranked victories.
Roubidoux's honor comes after a historic weekend in Oregon that saw the senior forward rewrite The College of Idaho women's soccer record book.
Entering the weekend, Roubidoux was tied with
Gianna Yslava for the program's all-time points record with 92 and matched
Eden Makaafi's career goals mark with 39. The Fruitland, Idaho native wasted little time claiming sole possession of both records, scoring less than 12 minutes into Friday's match at Bushnell University (Ore.). She completed a hat trick in a span of less than 10 minutes as the No. 9 Yotes pulled away for a convincing road victory.
The following day against Corban University (Ore.), Roubidoux added two more goals, scoring the first pair of tallies in a 4-0 victory. The five-goal weekend pushed her season total to nine goals through nine matches while extending her lead atop The College of Idaho's career goals and points lists.
On the gridiron, Patterson earned Frontier Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors after providing one of the most electric moments of the season in the No. 1 Yotes' victory over then No. 2 Montana Tech.
The senior return specialist totaled 127 yards on two kickoff returns, including an 84-yard touchdown that dramatically shifted the game's momentum just before halftime.
With two seconds remaining in the first half, Montana Tech had cut The College of Idaho's lead to just two points with a touchdown. Looking to avoid giving Patterson a return opportunity, the Orediggers attempted a squib kick on the ensuing kickoff.
Instead, the ball found Patterson.
He immediately broke through the coverage unit, found daylight and raced 84 yards to the end zone as time expired in the half, turning a tense moment into a momentum-swinging touchdown that sent the Yotes into the locker room with renewed energy and a larger advantage.
The No. 9 Yotes women's soccer team returns to action Oct. 2 at Eastern Oregon with kickoff scheduled for 5 p.m. MT. The top-ranked Yotes football team returns home Oct. 3 for Homecoming against Simpson University (Calif.) at noon MT at Simplot Stadium.
