ASHLAND, Ore. — The No. 3 seed College of Idaho beach volleyball team saw its season come to a close Thursday at the Cascade Conference Tournament, falling to No. 2 seed Corban, 3-1, before dropping a 3-2 decision to No. 4 seed Bushnell in an elimination dual.
In the opener against Corban, the Yotes picked up a point at the No. 2 position, where Faith Faucher and Greta Valaika outlasted Gabi Engels and Allyson Reid in three sets, 21-17, 20-22, 16-14. Corban secured the dual with wins at Nos. 4, 5 and 1, with the No. 3 match going unfinished due to the tournament's clinch format.
Facing elimination against Bushnell, the Yotes built a 2-1 lead behind wins at Nos. 4 and 1. Kadance Jacobson and Emily Lettenmaier rallied for a three-set victory at No. 4 early in the dual, followed by a straight-set win from Liza Montalbo and Carolina Moreno Rubio at the top spot.
Bushnell answered by taking the No. 2 match to get on the board before play was halted by a lengthy lightning delay. After the break, the Beacons won at No. 5 to set up a decisive match at No. 3. In the clincher, Sophia White and Ellie Baker dropped a tightly contested three-set battle, 19-21, 21-17, 15-13, sealing the Beacons' comeback.
The Yotes conclude the season with a 7-10 overall record.
