CALDWELL, Idaho — Senior outfielder Madelyn Powell has been named Cascade Collegiate Conference Player of the Week after a dominant performance at the plate to lead RV College of Idaho softball to a series win over No. 1 Eastern Oregon.
Powell, a senior from McMinnville, Ore., hit .571 (8-for-14) across four games, blasting four home runs, two doubles and driving in 12 runs while scoring six times. She posted a 1.571 slugging percentage and .600 on-base percentage, finishing the weekend without a strikeout in 15 plate appearances.
Powell delivered in key moments throughout the series, opening with a two-run home run before erupting for a three-run homer and a grand slam in the run-rule victory that clinched the series for the Yotes.
Nationally, Powell ranks third in the NAIA in RBIs and is the only Cascade Conference player ranked in the top five of any major hitting category. As a team, the Yotes lead the NAIA in home runs, holding a four-home run advantage over second place.
