Extra Inning Galore In Saturday Series

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho battled through a challenging Saturday at Wolfe Field, dropping both games of a dramatic doubleheader to Warner Pacific in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The Yotes fell 10-5 in Game 1 before enduring a marathon 13-inning heartbreaker in Game 2, a 7-4 decision that swung back and forth into the evening.

Warner Pacific's offense proved relentless across the day, out-hitting the Yotes 25–19 over the two contests while capitalizing on timely swings and extended innings. Despite moments of momentum and several standout performances, The College of Idaho could not overcome Knights surges in the late frames of both games.

Game 1: Warner Pacific 10, The College of Idaho 5
The opener saw early adversity for the Yotes as Warner Pacific struck for four runs in the second inning, mixing three hits with two hit batters and a walk to seize control. The College of Idaho responded emphatically in the bottom of the third with a five-run outburst, highlighted by RBI singles from Austin Moon, Caden Casagrande and Corbin Sterner. Jack Ryan added a sacrifice fly to cap the rally and give the Yotes a 5–4 lead.

Momentum shifted again in the sixth when the Knights erupted for five runs. Donny Tober's RBI double broke the tie before Haden Mirante singled home another run, and Mitchell Thoma-Britt delivered the decisive blow with a three-run homer. Warner Pacific out-hit the Yotes 13–7 in the contest, and although Corbin Sterner and Caden Casagrande each recorded multi-RBI efforts, the Yotes could not regain the lead after the sixth.

Game 2: Warner Pacific 7, The College of Idaho 4 (13 Innings)
The nightcap evolved into an instant classic. After falling behind 2–0 in the first inning, the Yotes clawed back as James Hull homered in the third and later tied the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Austin Moon. Hull delivered again in the ninth, helping spark the rally that evened the score 3–3 and sent the game to extras.

Both teams traded blows in the late innings. Giovanny Alvillar put Warner Pacific ahead in the 12th with an RBI single, only for Hull to respond immediately with a game-tying RBI single in the bottom half. The College of Idaho had the tying run aboard again in the 13th but could not plate another response after Warner Pacific pushed across three runs, including RBI singles from Mason Deverna and Collin Schiller.

Hull finished the day as the Yotes' most consistent threat, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI in Game 2. Austin Moon added three hits on the day, while Darren Smith collected four hits across the doubleheader. The teams were even in total hits in Game 2 at 12 apiece, but Warner Pacific capitalized with four runs off Yotes miscues and late-inning opportunities.

The two teams conclude the series tomorrow with a doubleheader at Wolfe Field. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. MT.
