LEWISTON, Idaho - College of Idaho showed stretches of strong defense and rebounding but couldn't overcome a tough shooting night in a 61 to 44 loss at Lewis-Clark State on Friday.
The Yotes hung within a point after the first quarter and dominated the glass early, ultimately finishing with a 39 to 34 rebounding advantage. Kylie Waltermeyer led the effort with eight points, and Brooke Beresford added six points and nine rebounds to pace a frontcourt that consistently battled on the interior.
Maiya Hardy and Anna Mooney each contributed six points, and the Yotes shot 57 percent in the third quarter as they worked to chip away at the LC State lead.
Sitara Byrd led the Warriors with 17 points, while Darian Herring recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.
College of Idaho shot 36.7 percent from the field and held LC State below 39 percent overall, but 21 turnovers proved costly.
