Peoples’ Party as Yotes Ring in New Year with CCC Sweep

CALDWELL, Idaho - The College of Idaho opened the new year by completing a Cascade Conference sweep, rolling past Warner Pacific 92-61 on Friday night to cap a dominant two-game stretch that began earlier in the week against Eastern Oregon.

Dougie Peoples picked up right where he left off from Tuesday, delivering another standout performance to lead the Yotes. Peoples poured in a game-high 29 points on 8-of-15 shooting, knocking down five 3-pointers and going 8 of 9 at the free-throw line as C of I improved to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play. The Junior combined for 51 points on the weekend.

The Yotes set the tone early, racing out to a 46-27 halftime lead behind efficient shooting and relentless pressure on the defensive end. Freshman Jackson Rogers orchestrated the offense with a game-high 6 assists off the bench. Peoples scored 18 of his points in the opening half as College of Idaho shot 63 percent from the field and built a lead that never dipped into single digits.

College of Idaho continued to pour it on after the break, opening the second half with a 14-3 run to push the margin past 30. Rey Johnston finished with nine points, while Tucker Tiddens added 12 off the bench. Reece Sasser-Gunson chipped in eight points in limited minutes as the Yotes finished with 42 bench points.

The Yotes shot 55.6 percent from the field for the game, outrebounded Warner Pacific 39-26 and scored 42 points in the paint. College of Idaho also forced 15 turnovers and converted them into 24 points.

Warner Pacific, which fell to 5-8 overall and 1-4 in CCC play, was led by Tyson Parker's 24 points. Nico Perez-La Costa added 14 points, but the Knights were unable to keep pace after the opening minutes.

With the sweep, College of Idaho carries momentum into the heart of conference play, closing the holiday stretch with back-to-back convincing performances and a statement start to the new year.
