CALDWELL, Idaho - Freshman Rey Johnston made Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball history after being named both the CCC Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, marking the first time a player has swept the weekly honors since the conference split the award prior to the 2024-25 season.
Johnston powered The College of Idaho to a 2-0 weekend at home, averaging 21.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game while shooting 60.0 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from three-point range. He totaled 42 points over two games, committed zero turnovers in 63 minutes, and added four blocks to anchor the Yotes on the defensive end.
The CCC introduced separate offensive and defensive weekly awards at the start of the 2024-25 season, replacing the single Player of the Week honor. Johnston is the first player in conference men's basketball history to earn both awards in the same week.
Johnston and the Yotes will look to carry that momentum forward as conference play continues this week.
