CCC Beach Volleyball Wraps Up Regular Season in Caldwell

CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho closed out the Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) beach volleyball regular season Saturday with a full slate of matches on Day 2 of the CCC tournament, hosted at the C of I Beach Courts. The two-day event featured the Yotes, Simpson University, Northwest University, and Southern Oregon University.

The Yotes (9-6, 9-6 CCC) opened the day with a dominant 5-0 sweep over Simpson University. College of Idaho dropped just one set across the four contested matches, with the fifth decided by forfeit. Haley Hoopes and Sydney Dews cruised at the top line with a 21-10, 21-14 win, while Deshy Sandoval and Greta Valaika delivered a commanding 21-9, 21-10 performance at No. 2.

In their second match of the day, College of Idaho battled Southern Oregon (14-7, 12-3 CCC) in a tightly contested 3-2 loss. The Yotes earned wins at the top and third pairings, including an impressive showing from Maya Blake and Liza Montalbo, who outlasted SOU's Kira Sandoval and Lucretia Benolken in three sets, 21-19, 16-21, 15-11. Hoopes and Dews once again came through with a gritty comeback win at No. 1, prevailing 13-21, 24-22, 15-13. However, the Raiders claimed victories at the No. 2, 4, and 5 spots to secure the dual.

Southern Oregon earlier defeated Northwest University 4-1, clinching wins in four of five pairings. The match featured another three-setter at No. 3, with Sandoval and Benolken edging out Rankins and Van Berkum in a close 21-10, 18-21, 16-14 result.
Northwest (6-9, 6-9 CCC) ended its regular season on a high note with a 5-0 sweep of Simpson (0-15, 0-15 CCC), taking three matches in straight sets and two by forfeit.

The Yotes also took time to honor their five seniors—Lainey Keppler, Sydney Dews, Haley Hoopes, Deshy Sandoval, and Lauren Gauna—for their contributions to the program.

With the regular season now concluded, CCC teams will shift their attention to the postseason tournament.
