LEWISTON, Idaho — The College of Idaho came out swinging but couldn't hold off a persistent Lewis-Clark State lineup, falling 11-9 on Sunday at Harris Field in the series finale.
The Yotes opened the game with a five-run first inning, sparked by a two-run single from Connor Olsen and an RBI double off the bat of Caden Casagrande. Despite the hot start, the lead slowly slipped away as Lewis-Clark State chipped away, tying the game in the fourth and pulling ahead for good in the fifth on a three-run home run by Signorell.
College of Idaho showed resilience late, mounting a rally in the eighth with three runs including an RBI single from Austin Moon and a sacrifice fly by Chandler Stocking cutting the deficit to 10-9. However, the Warriors answered right back in the bottom half when Signorell doubled home Cabrera, padding the final margin.
The Yotes drew 10 walks and recorded eight hits, but 12 runners were left stranded on base in the back-and-forth contest. Jacob Lewis (3-1) took the loss in relief, while Anderson (1-2) earned the win for LC State. Solomon picked up his fourth save of the season, closing the door in the ninth.
With the defeat, College of Idaho was swept in the four-game road series despite several competitive showings, including Sunday's near-comeback effort.
