Lewiston, Idaho – Despite flashes of offensive promise and strong individual efforts, the College of Idaho dropped both ends of a doubleheader Saturday at Harris Field, falling 5-4 in Game 1 and 11-1 in Game 2 to Lewis-Clark State in Cascade Conference play.
In Game 1, the Yotes rallied in the fifth inning, turning a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead thanks to a sequence of clutch at-bats and a few timely Warrior miscues. Chandler Stocking, Caden Casagrande, and Jack Ingraham all reached base and scored in the frame, with Casagrande's RBI single capping the four-run outburst.
C of I starter Oliver Massie delivered a solid outing, going seven innings and allowing just three earned runs on ten hits while striking out four. But Lewis-Clark State clawed back with a two-run single from Weintraub in the bottom of the eighth to retake the lead. The Yotes put runners on in the final frame, but couldn't push across the tying run.
Casagrande led the offense with three hits and an RBI, while Connor Olsen and James Hull each added two hits.
Game 2 saw the Warriors jump out early, scoring seven runs in the first two innings and never looking back en route to an 11-1 win. C of I managed just three hits, including an RBI single from Ben Gaff in the second inning that momentarily tied the game 1-1.
Dawson Cummins took the loss, allowing nine runs in 2.1 innings. Tanner Keener and Caden Campa combined for four scoreless innings of relief, helping limit further damage.
The series wraps up in Lewiston, Idaho on Sunday.
