Fast-Paced Start Propels Yotes to Decisive Win Over LC State

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho Yotes stormed out to a commanding 15-0 lead and never looked back, defeating Lewis-Clark State 73-60 on Friday afternoon at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. With the win, the Yotes improved to 21-2 overall and 16-1 in Cascade Conference play, maintaining their grip on first place.

The Yotes set the tone early, igniting the crowd with consecutive three-pointers from Drew Wyman and Johnny Radford within the opening minutes. The offensive onslaught saw College of Idaho shoot a scorching 57.1% from the field in the first half, building a 45-31 halftime advantage.

Wyman led the charge with 18 points, sinking three shots from beyond the arc and converting all three free throws. Samaje Morgan added 17 points, five of which came at the charity stripe, and contributed three assists. Straton Rogers dominated the boards with a game-high 14 rebounds while chipping in two assists and a block. Johnny Radford scored 12 points, while Tyler Robinett provided nine points, two rebounds, and a pair of crucial blocks to anchor the defense.

Defensively, the Yotes stifled LC State (17-6, 12-5), holding them to just 28.6% shooting from three-point range and forcing 12 turnovers. College of Idaho's relentless ball pressure and rebounding advantage limited the Warriors' scoring opportunities.

The Warriors were led by MaCarhy Morris, who tallied 14 points and pulled down five rebounds. Alton Hamilton added 12 points and led LC State with eight rebounds. Jayceon Smith provided a spark off the bench with nine points, four assists, and two steals. Despite their efforts, the Warriors were unable to recover from the Yotes' 15-0 opening blitz.

College of Idaho will look to extend their winning streak as they head into the final stretch of Cascade Conference play.
