PORTLAND, Ore. – The College of Idaho women's basketball team stormed into CC Perry Gymnasium and delivered a statement victory over Warner Pacific, dismantling the Knights 72-54 in a commanding performance that showcased their depth, defensive pressure, and long-range accuracy.
From the opening tip, the Yotes asserted their dominance, exploding for a 26-9 lead in the first quarter that Warner Pacific never recovered from. Shooting an impressive 44.6% from the field and a blistering 45.5% from beyond the arc, the Yotes were firing on all cylinders. Their defense suffocated the Knights early, holding them to just 23.1% shooting in the first quarter and forcing 13 turnovers on the night.
The Yotes' depth proved to be a nightmare for Warner Pacific, with 29 points coming off the bench. They also capitalized on Warner Pacific's mistakes, converting turnovers into 24 points, compared to just five for the Knights. While Warner Pacific tried to battle back in the fourth quarter, cutting into the deficit with a late push, the Yotes had already built an insurmountable lead, leading by as many as 30 points.
A balanced scoring attack fueled the win, with multiple players stepping up and knocking down big shots when it mattered most. Ten three-pointers rained in from deep as the Yotes put on a shooting clinic, proving their ability to stretch the floor and punish defenses from all angles. They also moved the ball effectively, tallying eight assists and making the extra pass to find open shooters.
With this victory, the Yotes improve to 13-11 overall and 11-8 in conference play. They look to carry this momentum forward as their road trip continues tomorrow against Multnomah, with tipoff set for 4 p.m. MT.
