Yotes Prevail In Final Battle at Multnomah, Defeat Lions 65-55

PORTLAND, Ore. – In a game filled with lead changes, grit, and history, the College of Idaho women's basketball team emerged victorious in what will be the final collegiate showdown at Multnomah, defeating the Lions 65-55 on Saturday afternoon at Lytle Gym.

As Multnomah's athletic journey nears its final chapter, the Lions refused to go quietly into the night. The Lions ended the first frame with a one point advantage and continued in the second frame after shooting 66.7% from beyond the arc. At half, the Yotes found themselves in a six point deficit. The Yotes clawed back from the early deficit with a 23-point explosion in the third quarter, flipping the script and setting up a thrilling finish. With the Lions still within striking distance, Mooney's clutch shooting and a tenacious defensive effort in the final minutes shut the door on Multnomah's hopes for a farewell victory.

Senior Anna Mooney put on a spectacular performance, dropping a game-high 20 points, including three crucial three-pointers in the fourth quarter to silence the home crowd. Kylie Waltermeyer dominated the glass, pulling down eight rebounds while adding 15 points, and Brooke Beresford chipped in 14 points to help seal the deal.

The win improves the Yotes' record to 14-11 (12-8 in Cascade Collegiate Conference play) as they prepare to return home for a matchup against The Evergreen State College on February 21 at 5:30 PM.
