CALDWELL, Idaho - College of Idaho couldn't keep pace with a hot-shooting Lewis-Clark State squad Saturday evening, falling 87–67 inside Elgin Baylor Arena to slip to 1–1 in Cascade Conference play.
The Yotes (6–4, 1–1 CCC) battled through an inconsistent shooting night, finishing at 35 percent from the floor while LC State shot a blistering 57 percent. Despite stretches of strong defense and a lift from the bench, the Warriors steadily widened the margin in both halves.
Rey Johnston anchored the C of I offense with 13 points and six rebounds, attacking the rim early and giving the Yotes their first lead at 9-7 in the opening minutes. Utrillo Morris added 14 points off the bench, including a key burst midway through the second half as the Yotes attempted to chip away at the deficit. Tucker Tiddens gave C of I another spark inside with 10 points and five boards, while Dougie Peoples knocked down two threes and finished with eight.
The Yotes found success on the offensive glass with 14 second-chance points, but the Warriors' efficiency proved difficult to counter as LC State scored 38 points in the paint and used a 47-point second half to pull away.
LC State (7–3, 1–1) was led by Brandon Suber's 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting, while Grayson Hunt added 15 points and six rebounds, and Dylan Skaife scored 13. Peyton Nordland chipped in nine points and five assists.
