Yotes Find A Rhythm, Score 95 Points

CALDWELL, Idaho — The College of Idaho opened Cascade Collegiate Conference play in emphatic fashion Friday, rolling past Walla Walla University (Ore.) 95-34 at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The Yotes' 95 points marked their highest scoring output against a CCC opponent since dropping 105 on Walla Walla in 2016.

The Yotes (7-2, 1-0 CCC) dominated from the opening tip, racing to a 26-4 lead after the first quarter and never looking back. College of Idaho shot 58.5 percent from the field and buried 11 three-pointers while holding the Wolves to just 20.8 percent shooting.

Sophomore guard Mia Austin led the offensive surge off the bench, scoring a game-high 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting, including five three-pointers. Forward Brooke Beresford added 15 points and five rebounds, while Kylie Waltermeyer chipped in 12 points and four assists. The Yotes' depth was on full display, with 53 points coming from reserves.

College of Idaho also controlled the glass, outrebounding Walla Walla 43-28 and converting 50 points in the paint. The Yotes finished with 26 assists on 38 made baskets.

For Walla Walla (2-3, 0-1 CCC), Brooklyn Coe paced the Wolves with 14 points, including a late three-pointer, while Ally Haslam contributed six points and four rebounds.

The Yotes return to action Saturday, hosting Lewis-Clark State College at 3 p.m. in Caldwell.
