GLENDALE, Ariz. — No. 12 College of Idaho went toe-to-toe with second-ranked Arizona Christian on Friday, taking the Firestorm to overtime before falling 75-73 at the ACU Events Center. The Yotes controlled long stretches of the afternoon and put themselves in position for a statement road win, but ACU escaped late.
Samaje Morgan paced the Yotes (5-3) with 19 points, four rebounds and four steals, while Alex Germer added 16 points and Dougie Peoples hit a pair of clutch threes on his way to 12. College of Idaho shot 43 percent from the field and built a 15-point second-half lead before Arizona Christian rallied.
The Firestorm (10-1) overcame a cold shooting night, just 27.6 percent from the floor, by dominating the glass 56-40 and converting 22 of 30 free throws. Shaud Bradley led ACU with 16 points, and Jay Lee added 17 points and 14 rebounds.
The Yotes held a 64-60 lead in the closing minute of regulation, but ACU forced overtime with a late three and a free throw. Peoples drilled a deep three from the top of the arc with 14 seconds left in OT to tie it 73–73, but two free throws from Ese Onakpoma with six seconds remaining proved the difference. Morgan's contested three at the buzzer missed, allowing ACU to survive a strong College of Idaho effort.
