NAMPA, Idaho - College of Idaho went toe-to-toe with Northwest Nazarene for much of the night before the Nighthawks pulled away late, as the Yotes fell 91–74 on Tuesday in round two of the Mayor's Cup at the Johnson Sports Center.
The Yotes came out confident in the road environment, building an early six-point lead and keeping pace through a tight first half. Alex Germer paced C of I with 21 points on an efficient 7-of-10 shooting performance, including 5-of-6 from three. Samaje Morgan added 15 points and four assists, while Conner Sheets provided a lift off the bench with seven points and a pair of second-half threes.
College of Idaho trailed just 34–31 at the break before NNU caught fire in the second half, shooting more than 60 percent to create separation. Still, the Yotes continued to generate scoring from across the lineup, hitting 22 free throws and getting points from 10 different players. Utrillo Morris and Dougie Peoples also contributed key second-half minutes as the Yotes worked to stay within reach.
Defensively, College of Idaho forced 13 NNU turnovers and saw strong rebounding efforts from Chance Winter and David Kludt, who combined for 12 boards.
Northwest Nazarene was led by Easton Reagan's 30 points and 10 rebounds.
The Yotes stay home for the Title One Tipoff on Friday and Saturday in the Elgin Baylor Arena.
