CALDWELL, Idaho – For the third consecutive match, The College of Idaho men's soccer team walked off the pitch with a draw, this time a hard-fought 0-0 stalemate against (RV) Southern Oregon Friday night at Simplot Stadium.
The result continues a challenging trend for the Yotes against the Raiders, as Southern Oregon has held the upper hand in the last 10 meetings. The College of Idaho is now 3-6-1 in that stretch.
Both sides had stretches of sustained possession, but neither could find the breakthrough. The Yotes generated 11 shots, including a near miss off the post by Eric Hornung early in the second half, while Southern Oregon fired 22 attempts but met a wall in Matej Hron. The goalkeeper was sensational, recording six saves to preserve the clean sheet, including making three rapid fire saves in the 77th minute.
Southern Oregon's defense was equally resolute, anchored by Casey Ruvolo, who stopped two shots and commanded his box as the Yotes pressed late. The match featured physical play throughout, with 25 combined fouls and three yellow cards issued.
The College of Idaho (2-3-4, 2-3-3 CCC) will look to improve its standing in the CCC tomorrow when they host Oregon Tech at 8:00 p.m. at Simplot Stadium.
