HELENA, Mont. — In a physical matchup between Cascade Collegiate Conference members, The College of Idaho men's soccer team clawed back from a first-half deficit to earn a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Carroll College on Saturday afternoon at Nelson Stadium.
The Yotes (2-3-3, 2-3-2 CCC) showed resilience, responding to a 27th-minute goal from Carroll's Alfie Snow with a second-half equalizer from Eric Hornung. The senior buried a shot in the 70th minute off a corner from Pierre Fabre, leveling the match and silencing the home crowd.
Goalkeeper Matej Hron was a wall in net, recording four saves, including a crucial stop in the final minutes to preserve the draw. Despite playing the final five minutes down a man after a red card, The College of Idaho defense held firm against a late Carroll push.
The Yotes were outshot 8-6 but generated five second-half corners and controlled possession for signifcant stretches. The result marks a statement performance against a Carroll side (7-2-2, 5-1-1 CCC) that entered the match second place in the conference standings.
The College of Idaho returns to Simplot Stadium on Friday, Oct. 17, for a primetime clash with Southern Oregon University. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m.
