CALDWELL, Idaho — The No. 2 College of Idaho Yotes suffered a rare setback Friday night, falling 59-56 to unranked Corban University at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center. The loss marks the Yotes' first regular-season Cascade Collegiate Conference defeat in nearly three years.
Despite the outcome, the Yotes had standout moments from several key players. Drew Wyman delivered nine points and pulled down four rebounds, while Samaje Morgan contributed nine points, including a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line late in the second half. Straton Rogers added eight points on 4-of-5 shooting, showing efficiency inside. However, the Yotes struggled offensively, shooting just 39.3% from the field and 27.3% from three-point range, which ultimately hindered their ability to maintain control.
Corban was led by Spivey Word, who scored a game-high 23 points, including a crucial late-game jumper. Luc Krystkowiak added 12 points and four rebounds, and RJ Veliz sealed the win with two decisive free throws in the final seconds. The Warriors outshot the Yotes, hitting 49% from the field, and capitalized on turnovers to secure the upset victory.
The Yotes aim to bounce back on Saturday as they host Bushnell University, while Corban continues its road trip at Eastern Oregon.
