KANSAS CITY, Mo. – College of Idaho standout guard Samaje Morgan has been named to the prestigious Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List for the 2024-25 season, as announced by the National Awards Committee and Small College Basketball. The list highlights the top players across NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA, and NCCAA, recognizing excellence both on and off the court.
Morgan has been instrumental to the Yotes' success this season, averaging 10.5 points, 4.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. Earlier this year, he surpassed the 1,000-career point milestone as only a junior, solidifying his place among the program's elite. Morgan's leadership has guided the Yotes to a 14-2 overall record, including a 9-1 mark in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. The team is currently ranked fifth in the NAIA after being ranked as high as second earlier this season, boasting an average of 85.7 points per game and a +23.2 scoring margin.
"Congratulations to all 100 players that are on the Bevo Francis Award Watch List of 100 Players," said John McCarthy, founder of Small College Basketball. "This is a remarkable accomplishment to be listed as one of only 100 out of approximately 13,000-16,000 players. While this is ultimately an individual award, team success is an important criterion for this list."
Morgan's selection to the Top 100 is a testament to his individual achievements, leadership, and the success of the College of Idaho men's basketball program. Known for his dynamic playmaking and consistency, Morgan has been a key contributor to the Yotes' success this season.
The Bevo Francis Award, named after the legendary Clarence "Bevo" Francis, honors the player with the finest overall season in Small College Basketball, factoring in statistics, achievements, character, and team success. The Watch List will be narrowed down to the Top 50 on February 15, the Top 25 on March 15, and the finalists on April 5. The 2025 Bevo Francis Award winner will be announced on April 7.
