Yotes Overcome Halftime Deficit to Dominate Eastern Oregon

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's basketball team turned a two-point halftime deficit into a commanding 89-61 victory over Eastern Oregon University on Tuesday night in a Cascade Conference clash at the J.A. Albertson Activities Center. The win was highlighted by Paul Wilson breaking the school record for career blocks with his 142nd rejection.

Trailing 40-38 at halftime, the Yotes came out firing in the second half, starting with a layup by Tyler Robinett to tie the game. A subsequent 8-0 run swung momentum firmly in favor of the home team, who never looked back. College of Idaho's offensive efficiency surged after the break, as they shot 57.6% from the field, including 50% from three-point range. Their defensive effort was equally impressive, holding the Mountaineers to just 26.9% shooting in the final 20 minutes.

Johnny Radford led the Yotes with 19 points, hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc and converting all five of his free throw attempts. Dougie Peoples provided a spark off the bench, scoring 15 points, including three three-pointers. Tyler Robinett added 14 points, four rebounds, and two blocks, while Samaje Morgan tallied 10 points and a game-high five assists. The Yotes capitalized on 17 Eastern Oregon turnovers, converting them into 31 points, and their bench contributed a decisive 36 points compared to the Mountaineers' 19.

Eastern Oregon saw strong performances from Brennen Newsom, who scored 15 points on 7-of-12 shooting, and Garrett Hawkes, who added 13 points while connecting on all three of his three-point attempts. Trent Rogers chipped in 10 points off the bench, but the Mountaineers struggled to find consistency in the second half.

With the victory, the Yotes improved to 14-2 overall and 9-1 in conference play ahead of a home stand on Friday and Saturday against Jessup-Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
