OLYMPIA, Wash. — The College of Idaho Yotes saw their winning streak snapped Saturday night, falling 55-52 to The Evergreen State College in a tightly contested Cascade Conference matchup.
The game featured 14 lead changes and four ties, with neither team able to pull away for long. The Yotes built a nine-point lead late in the third quarter, fueled by a balanced scoring effort and solid defense. However, Evergreen clawed back with a decisive 22-10 fourth quarter, taking the lead for good on a pair of free throws with just over two minutes remaining.
Despite their efforts, the Yotes struggled to find consistency offensively, shooting 28.1% from the field and 20.8% from three-point range. College of Idaho also struggled on the boards, with Evergreen holding a 40-24 rebounding edge, including 13 offensive rebounds that led to critical second-chance points.
Taryn Riley paced the Yotes with 14 points, hitting 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, while Ashton Adamson recorded a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Brooke Beresford added 12 points and six rebounds.
Evergreen's Mikail Montez led all scorers with 21 points and eight rebounds, while Sydney VanNess chipped in 16 points and nine boards to help the Geoducks secure the upset.
