Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

College of Idaho Tops Walla Walla 5-1 in Convincing Road Win

WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The College of Idaho men's soccer team secured a convincing 5-1 victory over Walla Walla University on Sunday, improving their record to 5-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in conference play. The match was slightly delayed due to the Yotes' bus taking an unexpected detour on the way to the stadium. Despite arriving later than planned, the team didn't miss a beat once the whistle blew.

The Yotes were led by Keidin Green who scored the first goal of the game, and the only goal in the first half, but decided it wasn't enough. Green went on to score two more goals in the second half to complete his hat trick. The Freshman converted on all 3 of his on-target shots and went three-for-five overall.

How It Happened

After shaking off the effects of the scenic tour of Walla Walla, the Yotes found their stride late in the first half. Keidin Green opened the scoring in the 38th minute, assisted by Pierre Fabre. They extended their lead early in the second half with a goal from Hugo Gutierrez in the 56th minute, following an assist from J.J. Osuna. Green added his second goal just seven minutes later, assisted by Hugo Guevara.

Walla Walla's Jonathon Rogne netted a goal in the 64th minute, but the Yotes quickly responded with an unassisted goal by Eric Hornung in the 82nd minute. Green completed his hat trick in the 87th minute, sealing the 5-1 victory.

Despite the slight delay, the Yotes outshot Walla Walla 24-9 and earned seven corner kicks to the Wolves' one.

Next Match: College of Idaho returns to action next week as they continue conference play.
