Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The College of Idaho men's soccer team couldn't overcome an early deficit, falling 3-1 to Oregon Tech on Friday in Cascade Collegiate Conference play. Manny Garcia's two goals powered the Owls, while Ben Calam netted the lone goal for the Yotes.
Garcia opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing off an assist from Cash Cota to give Oregon Tech an early lead. Just ten minutes later, Cota found the back of the net himself, assisted by Reece Fletcher, doubling the Owls' advantage.
In the 56th minute, Garcia added his second goal, again assisted by Fletcher, making it 3-0 in favor of the Owls.
The Yotes finally broke through in the 84th minute with a goal from Ben Calam. A Yotes corner kick from set up a chaotic sequence in front of the Oregon Tech goal. Jorge Fernandez was on the receiving end of the Yotes' cross and used a bicycle flick which found its way into the six-yard box, and after bouncing around, Calam headed it in to cut the deficit to two. However, the Yotes couldn't mount a further comeback.
The loss drops College of Idaho to 3-2 in conference play (5-2-1 overall), while Oregon Tech improves to 2-3 in the CCC (5-5-0 overall).
Next up, the Yotes travel to Ashland to face Southern Oregon tomorrow at 3:30 PM MT, while Oregon Tech hosts Eastern Oregon at 2:30 PM PT.
