Caldwell, Idaho In a nail-biting Homecoming game attended by 3,758 fans at Simplot Stadium, College of Idaho quarterback Andy Peters etched his name in the school's record books by throwing his 50th career touchdown, setting a new school record. The No. 19 Yotes triumphed over No. 10 Montana Tech 45-37 in a thrilling overtime contest.
Peters, who passed for 419 yards and accounted for four total touchdowns, including two on the ground, led the Yotes' incredible comeback in the fourth quarter. Trailing 31-19 with just over 10 minutes left, Peters orchestrated a series of successful drives, including an 8-yard touchdown run that tied the game at 31-31. He followed that with another 4-yard touchdown run that put the Yotes ahead 37-31 with under two minutes remaining.
Montana Tech quickly responded, marching 85 yards down the field in less than a minute to tie the game 37-37 with 47 seconds left. However, College of Idaho's special teams came up big, blocking Montana Tech's potential game-winning PAT, forcing overtime.
In overtime, the Yotes struck first, with running back Hunter Gilbert plunging into the end zone from 2 yards out. Peters added the 2-point conversion with a run, giving the Yotes a 45-37 lead. Montana Tech had one last chance, but their drive ended when Dee'Shon Swafford intercepted Blake Thelen's pass, sealing the victory for College of Idaho.
The game marked another historic moment for Peters, who threw two touchdown passes, including a 34-yarder to Travis Marieiro early in the fourth. His career 50th passing touchdown came on a 12-yard strike to John Kreps, helping the Yotes to their third win of the season.
