Yotes Fall in a 4-3 Thriller Against Rocky Mountain

Billings, MT  – In a tightly contested match, the College of Idaho Yotes men's soccer team suffered their first loss of the season, falling 4-3 to Rocky Mountain College in a Cascade Collegiate Conference showdown. The Yotes took an early lead but were unable to hold on, allowing a late goal that sealed the victory for the Battlin' Bears.

Rocky Mountain struck first with an early goal in the 9th minute, but College of Idaho responded quickly with Eric Hornung netting a goal assisted by Luke Quinn. Just minutes later, Jake Anderson put the Yotes ahead, also with an assist from Quinn, bringing the score to 2-1. Despite several defensive saves by goalkeeper Matej Hron, Rocky Mountain tied the game early in the second half.

The Yotes regained momentum in the 74th minute when Jorge Fernandez scored to bring the game level at 3-3. However, with less than seven minutes remaining, Rocky Mountain's Nolan Finch scored the decisive goal, leaving the Yotes unable to respond.

Despite the loss, College of Idaho held their ground throughout the game, firing 10 shots, with 7 corner kicks and 12 fouls committed. Both teams' goalkeepers, including the Yotes' Hron, made key saves in the fast-paced battle. The Yotes will look to bounce back in their next match as they travel to face Walla Walla on September 29, with a 2:00 p.m. MT kickoff.
