CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Men's Soccer team continued their dominant form in conference play, securing a 4-0 shutout victory over The Evergreen State College (Wash.) on Saturday. With the win, the Yotes improved to 4-0-1 overall and 2-0-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action.
Jorge Fernandez led the Yotes' attack, scoring twice, including the game's first goal in the 10th minute, assisted by Pol Romero. Fernandez added his second just before halftime in the 40th minute, with assists from Pierre Fabre and Jake Anderson.
Maurice Notter and Eric Hornung each contributed a goal as well. Notter found the net in the 15th minute off a pass from Fernandez, while Hornung added his goal just a minute later, assisted by Luke Quinn and Dani Alejos.
The Yotes outshot Evergreen 13-1 in the first half, finishing the game with a 23-11 shot advantage. Evergreen managed 10 second-half shots but was unable to beat College of Idaho goalkeeper Matej Hron, who recorded five saves in the match. The Geoducks' goalkeeper, Brendan Gribek, made nine saves.
Both teams committed 15 fouls in a physical match, and five yellow cards were issued. The physical match-up saw nearly even card distribution with the Geoducks receiving three yellows while the Yotes were shown two.
The Yotes will travel to Billings, Montana, to take on Rocky Mountain College (Mont.) on Sept. aphacial27 with a 4 p.m. MT kickoff.
