SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The San Francisco Glens Soccer Club (SF Glens) 2024 roster includes Yotes Women's Soccer defender
Gianna Yslava. Yslava, a former youth club member of the team, is competing in her second season with the club that competes in the United Soccer League W (USL W). The SF Glens are also in only their second year of competing in the USL W. The league calls itself a "pre-professional league" with the objective of developing the next generation of professional female athletes. The league is apart of the third tier of professional soccer in the United States, with the top league being the North America Women Soccer League (NWSL) and the second tier being the United Soccer League Super League (USL S)
Yslava was approached in March 2023 to join the summer club and after a successful stint, was asked to return for an additional year. In the inaugural season, the club reached out to former youth club members that were excelling at the collegiate level. Yslava was among the list and said that it "has been an amazing opportunity that has allowed me to develop my game and skill as an individual player. I am challenged every day in this group, the intensity is always at an elite level".
The USL W season fits snuggly in between the end of the spring semester and wraps up in time for her to rejoin the Yotes for fall camp. She will be spending her summer in a high intensity environment. Her teammates include players from Duke, Cal, UCLA, Stanford, St Mary's, Cal Poly, and Colombia while facing opponents with just as elite players. Yslava hopes "to bring back the intensity to my incoming junior season as a Yote…I have so much confidence in this team come fall and have no doubt we will have another outstanding season".
Over the last four games, three of which she started, against Pleasanton Rage, Marin FC Siren (doubleheader), and Academica SC Yslava has netted four goals going into tonight's game against Stockton Cargo. They currently are first place and in a great position in the push for the playoffs.
