No. 4 Yotes Grind Out Victory Over Carroll

CALDWELL, Idaho – A relentless attack, a stellar performance in goal and a second-half breakthrough lifted the No. 4-ranked The College of Idaho women's soccer team to a hard-fought 1-0 Cascade Collegiate Conference victory over Carroll College Friday night at Simplot Stadium.

After a scoreless first half that featured chances at both ends, the Yotes wasted little time finding the winner. Just 35 seconds into the second half, Alondra Osuna buried her second  goal of the season off an assist from Abbi Roubidoux, giving The College of Idaho all the offense it would need.

The Yotes controlled much of the match, outshooting Carroll 23-16 and holding a 9-11 advantage in shots on goal despite facing a determined Saints squad that repeatedly tested the back line late in the contest.

Roubidoux was a constant threat throughout the evening, firing a match-high 10 shots and placing five on frame while adding the assist on the game-winning goal. Rylee Russell contributed five shots, including two on goal, as The College of Idaho continued to apply pressure deep into the second half.

Defensively, the Yotes turned in one of their grittiest performances of the season. Goalkeeper Molly McCabe recorded 11 saves, including several key stops during a frantic Carroll push in the closing minutes. McCabe preserved her eighth victory of the season and secured another clean sheet as the Yotes survived multiple dangerous opportunities inside the final 15 minutes.

Carroll goalkeeper Maria Ackerman was outstanding as well, making eight saves to keep the visitors within striking distance after facing 23 Yote shots.

With the victory, The College of Idaho improves to 9-2 overall and 5-1 in CCC play, strengthening its position at the top of the conference standings. Carroll falls to 2-3-6 overall and 1-1-4 in league action.

The Yotes return to action Saturday when they host Rocky Mountain College at 4 p.m. at Simplot Stadium.
