Yotes Finish 10th in Directors' Cup

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The final LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings have been released and The College of Idaho finished in 10th place, the highest finish ever for the Yotes. Vice President Reagan Rossi said of the accomplishment "We are proud of this great achievement for our tremendous coaches and student-athletes. The foundation in academic excellence, commitment to service, culture and community will continue to guide us along a path of success."
 
The ranking comes after Women's Cross Country won a national championship, an individual national championship in the indoor women's 5k, Men's basketball finished in the Fab Four, Football finishing in the semifinal for the first time in program's history, Women's Soccer hosted the second round of the NAIA tournament for the first time in program history, Men's Soccer broke an over  20 year absence from the national tournament, Volleyball & Softball earned an at-large bid for their national tournaments, several All-America finishes at Cross Country & Track & Field NAIA Championships, and beach volleyball qualifying for the regional qualifier tournament.
 
President Doug Brigham says that "This tremendous achievement is a testimony to the great coaches and student athletes we have here at The College of Idaho who are able to achieve high levels of success in athletic competition while also excelling in the classroom. Reagan Rossi's leadership in establishing a great culture for athletics has been instrumental in our continued success"
 
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NAIA Championships. Overall, 13 sports are counted in the final NAIA standings, four of which must be men's basketball, men's soccer, women's basketball and women's volleyball. The next highest (9 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
