Softball Scores Four on CSC Academic All-District Team

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) released Softball Academic All-District teams which included four Yotes. Kaylee MacDannald, Lindsey Jones, Lena Zahniser, and Annie Polster were included among the athletes honored for a combination of on field performance as well as high achievement in the classroom. Academically, athletes had to have maintained 3.5 GPAs on a 4.0 scale in the classroom. Athletically, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of the institution's games/contests played or must start in at least 66 percent of the institution's games/contests. For softball pitchers, it is 17 appearances or 25 innings pitched. 

Kaylee MacDannald took second team All-CCC honors for her performances in the infield. She scored 37 times this season and batted in 21 runners. She knocked four home runs outside the fence. MacDannald had a 44.1% slugging percentage. Her on base percentage of 45.4% was ninth best in the conference. In 161 total chances, she picked off 79 and assisted 72. MacDannald finished the year with a 93.8% fielding percentage and completed four double plays. She started all 45 games she played this season for the Yotes. 

Lindsey Jones earned the Gold Glove for her efforts at third base this year. She had a 98.7% fielding percentage. She tied for second best in the conference with 101 assists. Her 9 fielding double plays placed her seventh best in the CCC.­ Jones started all 44 games she played this year.

Lena Zahniser earned 27 hits this season and scored 16 times this years. She batted in an additional 26 Yotes. Defensively, Zahniser picked off 198 opponents and put up a 99.5% fielding percentage. She hit three home runs over the course of her 35 starts and 40 total appearance this year.

Annie Polster was named to the first team All-CCC team for her work in the circle. She posted the fifth best ERA in the conference with her 2.19 mark and held opposing batters to a 22.6% batting average in 147.1 innings pitched. She fanned 105 batters in her final season with the Yotes. 

Kaylee MacDannald and Annie Polster were both selected as finalists for the CSC Academic All-America team. Academic All-America teams will be announced on June 18th.
