CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Yotes (11-20, 2-14 CCC) were unable to defeat the University of British Columbia T-Birds (30-13, 15-5).
Jordan Kelly's three run home run put the Yotes ahead in the 7-5 in the seventh. The T-Birds scored a pair in the ninth to force an extra inning. Aided by a Jonny McGill double and wild pitches by the Yotes, the T-Birds scored three in the top of the tenth. The College of Idaho was able to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the tenth but could not score the tying run, dropping the series finale 10-9
The T-Birds showed why they are second placed in the Cascade Collegiate Conference all weekend and in today's game after getting 21 hits against the Yotes. Designated hitter Aaron Marsh got four hits in the contest which he converted to scoring two runs. Jonny McGill got four hits which included an RBI and a pair of runs. For the Yotes,
Jordan Kelly got a pair of hits including the three-run homer and a double.
Jack Ingraham,
Ben Gaff, and
Trevor Watkins also got a pair of hits.
Jackson Cummins took on the bulk of the pitching for the Yotes. He pitched five innings and fanned three T-Birds. Adam Khan played the finale three innings to earn the win. Khan allowed three hits and struck out two Yotes.
Next weekend, The College of Idaho will travel to Salem, Oregon to face Corban in a four game series to be played at Warrior Field on April 19
th and April 20
th.
