Yotes Bounce Back With Corban Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 KEISER, Ore – The College of Idaho Yotes College of Idaho (15-31, 6-14 CCC) spoiled Corban Warrior's (9-34, 4-16 CCC) senior weekend. The Yotes won 10-3, 15-3, 6-1, and 9-1.
 
The Yotes ran ahead in the third with three runs. First run batted was off a Darren Smith double which advanced Ben Gaff to the four. Matthew Iwamizu also got a double down the left line that batted in Darren Smith for the score. Chandler Stocking's sacrifice fly out to right field allowed Trevor Watkins to reach home. Consistent scoring wasn't able to be matched by the Warriors. The Yotes won 10-3 in the first game of the series. The Yotes turned nine hits into ten runs. Matthew Iwamizu went three for three in the contest to lead the Yotes in hits. Brayden Macy courtesy running for Iwamizu, scored four runs. Trevor Watkins also got three hits off of four at bats. Nate Vidlak earned his win by playing seven innings. He fanned three in 30 batters faced. He only allowed three hits in the game.
 
The Yotes carried momentum into the second game of the nightcap. A prolific first inning saw the visiting Yotes score five runs. The Warriors breathed some life into the game by getting on the board with a run in the second inning. Yotes would go on to score a pair in the top of the seventh and an incredible eight runs in the eight that the Warriors couldn't match or pull within in ten causing the game to be concluded due to the ten-run mercy rule. Ten walked Yotes and nine hits propelled the Yotes to win in dominating fashion. Jack Ingraham, Darren Smith, and Jace Mahkle all got a pair of hits in the contest. Ben Gaff put 5.1 innings of work on the mound, replacing Nick Eliason. Gaff faced 21 batters and struck out three.
 
Game three saw the Yotes continue to start hot, scoring a pair of runs. By the time the Warriors finally got on the board in the sixth, the Yotes already hat five. Yotes finished winning 6-1. The Yotes got seven hits and were walked five times in the contest. Jordan Kelly got a pair of hits as well as Jack Ingraham. Jordan Kelly and Austin Moon both got doubles in the morning game. Chandler Stocking stole three bases. Jordan Kelly and Darren Smith both stole two bases. Dawson Cummings earned his first win of the season after pitching all nine innings. He only allowed four hits as he fanned eight.
 
The College of Idaho continued their dominating performances against Corban in the fourth game. The Yotes consistently scored to win the game 9-1. Jordan Kelly hit a pair of solo home runs from five at bats. Darren Smith got three hits off of four at bats, including a home run. Brian Ebe got a pair of hits, including a two-run home run in the top of the second. The Yotes racked up twelve hits and only allowed four. Oliver Massie got the win after pitching for five innings. He struck out six batters and only gave up one hit. The Warriors hit three yotes with pitches.
 
Next week, the Yotes wrap up the season when they host a pair of doubleheaders against Eastern Oregon University. Grand opening for the Christensen-Buffington Hitting Facility Grand Opening ceremony will take place on April 27th. The grand opening will begin at a 11:30am. Senior festivities will take in between games during the doubleheader on Sunday April 28th.
