Yotes Lose Shootout

CALDWELL, Idaho – The College of Idaho Yotes (28-13, 2-13 CCC) lost an additional two to the University of British Columbia T-Birds (29-13, 14-5 CCC) in conference play.  The T-Birds clinched the series win over the Yotes with the series finale concluding tomorrow.
 
The first game of the double remained close for the first six innings which was 13-12 at the end of the sixth in favor of the T-Birds.The Yotes' hot bats cooled off while the visitors continued the high scoring offense to finish the game 19-12 in favor of the T-Birds. Aaron Marsh's eleven RBIs proved to be too much to stop. In Marsh's six at bats, he was able to score five runs off of five hits including a double and a grand slam to devastate the Yotes in the 8thJordan Kelly led the Yotes in hits. In his five at bats, he was able to get three hits which plated four RBIs and he himself made it around the bases thrice.
 
The second inning was all T-Birds. The T-Birds got 19 hits, co-led by Trent Lenihan and Jonny McGill which both got four in the nightcap. The Yotes' bats struggled to find a hit until Chandler Stocking's triple out to left field in the bottom of the fourth. Jordan Kelly's sacrifice fly allowed Stocking to be the first Yote to find fourth making it 7-1 in favor of the visitors. The T-Birds went on to win the game 11-3. Ryan Beitel earned the win after pitching 7.1 innings. Along the way he fanned four and only allowed five hits. Kaden Lapp had a career high innings pitched after putting in 3.1 innings of work and striking out a pair of batters after replacing starter Dawson Cummins.
 
The two sides continue the series one more time tomorrow with a 11am first pitch at Wolfe Field in Caldwell, Idaho.
