CALDWELL, IDAHO – The College of Idaho dropped a doubleheader against Bushnell in non-conference play on Sunday. The snow delayed and shortened games that went in favor of Bushnell, 11-2 and 4-0. The two teams were scheduled for an 11am twinbill; however, they were not able to clear the snow in time for the matchup. The two coaches ended up having the first pitch at 1pm after agreeing to have a pair of seven-inning contests.
The first game Bushnell pulled away early, scoring a pair off a single by Albert Jennings and a bases loaded walk to Cade Crist in the first. The Yotes eventually got on the board on a Kris Kirkpatrick double that brought in Ben Gaff from second.Beacons' starter Kai Keamo earned the win, striking out four and pitching five solid innings.
In the second game. a RBI triple by Jordan Wilson and a RBI double by Albert Jennings in the first put Bushnell ahead early for a 2-0 advantage. Wilson added a RBI on a a sacrifice fly in the fifth en route to a 4-0 win by the visiting Beacons.
It was a tough-luck loss for Yotes starter Dawson Cummins, who was able to strike out seven batters in six innings of work and Jack Ingraham accounted for two of the six hits for the Yotes in the loss.
Next, the Yotes will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia next weekend to take on the University of British Colombia in their final non-conference series.
