Brookings, S.D. – On day two of the 2024 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, the College of Idaho men's and women's track and field was back in action.
Headlining the efforts on the second day was the performance of senior
Abbey Shirts in the 1000m run. The Weiser, Idaho native is making her fourth appearance at the championship in the 1000m with a best finish of fourth in 2023 after finishing fifth in 2022 and seventh in 2021. When Shirts took to the track on Friday, she proved to be the fastest on the day in the prelims with a personal-best time of 2:53.33 (previous best: 2:54.60).
Also on Friday,
Sage Martin secured herself a spot in the finals of the 3000m run with a time of 10:29.55.
In the weight throw for the men,
Tanner Sackman was 21
st with a toss of 56-5.25 (17.20m) and for the women,
Star Herron was 19
th with a heave of 52-9.25 (16.098m).
Hayden Bostrom in the men's 3000m (8:46.29), Martin and
Kahea Figueira posted times of 5:04.94 and 5:12.80 in the mile; however, the efforts did not qualify them for Saturday's finals.
