CALDWELL, Idaho – A 19-point second quarter by
Mia Austin sparked the College of Idaho women's basketball team to an 83-69 win over Corban on Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.
The Yotes (10-18, 10-12 CCC) saw Austin score 19 of her 25 in the second 10 minutes in the win. She was joined in double figures by
Brooke Beresford, who had her sixth double double of the season, with 18 points to go along with 11 rebounds and
Kylie Waltermeyer added 10.
The Warriors (8-20, 7-15 CCC) were able to place four in double figures as Maddie Godwin scored 25 to share game-high honors with Austin. Autumn Agnew added 12 and Kirsten Koehnke and Gemma LaVergne each had 10 in the loss.
College of Idaho stretched a three-point lead after the first 10 minutes to 14 at the halftime break due to the sharp shooting from Austin, who had five 3-pointers in the quarter. In the quarter, College of Idaho made seven of nine 3-pointers on its way to 58.8% shooting from the field. The Yotes would eventually build a lead as large as 22 on its way to sending seniors
Emma Anderson and
Jada Reed off with a win in their final home game. Both Anderson and Reed had a role in the win with six points and six rebounds each.
Next, College of Idaho will take part in the 2023 Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. The Yotes, who enter the tournament as the No. 6 seed, will travel to Lewiston to face Lewis-Clark State on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (PST)/6:30 p.m. (MT).
