LEWISTON, Idaho – A 27-3 run by host LC State, who entered the game as the No. 6 team in the nation, sparked the host Warriors to a 78-57 win over the No. 3 seed College of Idaho women's basketball team in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament.
College of Idaho (10-19) was paced by a 14-point effort by
Kylie Waltermeyer, who knocked down a season-high four 3-pointers in the loss. In the contest, the Yotes hit nine 3-pointers to give them 217 for the season which is the second most in program history. Fellow freshman teammate
Brooke Beresford wrapped up her rookie campaign with a 12-point, 7-rebound effort. A third freshman,
Anna Mooney handed out six assists in the contest.
Lewis-Clark State (24-4) was led by a 22-point effort by Callie Stevens, who also had seven rebounds, six assists and four steals in the win. Teammates Lindsey Wilson and Ellie Wilson also scored in double figures with 19 and 10 points, respectively.
College of Idaho hit four 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes to build a 32-30 lead at the halftime break. One of the four was a triple by Beresford with :04 left in the first 20 minutes. The Yotes entered the game with a 9-0 mark when leading at the break.
Beresford hit a 3-pointer with 8:04 left in the game – eighth of the game for the Yotes – put College of Idaho ahead 54-52 before the game-deciding run by the Warriors.
The contest ends the season for College of Idaho, whereas for Lewis-Clark State they will face No. 2 seed Oregon Tech on Friday, Mar. 1. Tipoff will be at 5:30 p.m. (PST) in Klamath Falls, Ore.
