KIRKLAND, Wash. – The College of Idaho women's basketball team outscored Northwest in the second quarter by ten en route to a 76-68 win on Saturday afternoon.
The Yotes (9-17, 9-11 CCC) shot 32 free throws in the win as
Anna Mooney made 12 of 13 attempts en route to a season-high 23 points to lead College of Idaho. She was joined in double figures by
Mia Austin, who had 20 on five 3-pointers and a double double performance by
Brooke Beresford, who had 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Northwest was also able to land three in double figures as Kylie Lunday had 19 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. She was joined in double digits by Kyrin Baklund and Maya Duchesne, who had 14 and 13 points, respectively.
After trailing for most of the first quarter, College of Idaho took its first lead of the game when Austin hit the first of back-to-back 3-pointers with 4:13 left in the second quarter. The Yotes scored 14 of the final 20 points of the first half en route to a 40-34 halftime lead.
Northwest managed to tie the game with 5:42 left in the fourth quarter when Lunday made a second-chance layup to tie the game at 55. Eight-straight points by the visitors sparked by a 3-pointer by Mooney put C of I ahead for the remainder of the contest. Mooney sealed the win, making all eight of her free throws in the final 10 minutes.
Next, College of Idaho will host Bushnell on Friday, Feb. 23 at 5:30 p.m. as part of Senior Weekend at the J.A. Albertson Activity Center.
