POCATELLO, Idaho – The College of Idaho men's and women's track and field teams competed for the last two days in the Mountain State Games hosted by Idaho State. The women had four NAIA "A" qualifying marks. On the men's side, there was a pair of NAIA " A" qualifying performances and two more NAIA "B" qualifying marks.
Hayden Bostrom became the second Yote on the season to record a NAIA "B" qualifying mark in the 3000m with a time of 8:33.29. Teammate Elias Everist recorded a NAIA "A" qualifying time in the 5000m with a time of 14:47.25. He will be joined at the NAIA Indoor National Championship by Lane Maher, who clocked a converted time of 8.19 in the 60m hurdles.
In the field events, Tanner Sackman recorded a "B" qualifying mark with a toss of 55-10.5/17.03m in the weight throw. Plus, Amari Evans jumped to a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 21-11.75 (6.70m).
The women's side saw a pair of women to give the Yotes three with NAIA "A" qualifying marks in the mile. Kahea Figueira and Sage Martin joined Abbey Shirts with a time of 5:02.33 and 5:05.33.
Ellyse Tingelstad secured a spot at the nationals with the fourth-fastest time in the NAIA with a winning time of 9:47.22. She joins Shirts and Figueira with NAIA "A" qualifying times, teammate Martin has a "B" qualifying time.
In the field events, Star Herron secured herself a spot at the nationals in the weight throw with a toss of 54-2.5 (16.52m).
The next meet for the Yotes is the EOU Last Chance Meet on Saturday, Feb. 17 before the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships, Feb. 29-Mar. 2 in Brookings, South Dakota.
