CALDWELL, Idaho – College of Idaho forward Straton Rogers was named the Cascade Conference Defensive Player of the Week, continuing the Yotes' impressive streak as the team earned the honor for the third straight week. Rogers' performance was key to the team's undefeated start to conference play during their opening weekend at home.
Rogers anchored the Yotes' defense as they secured victories over two of the league's toughest opponents, Southern Oregon University and Oregon Tech. Over the two games, Rogers tallied 13 rebounds, including five on the offensive end, and added two steals. He pulled down eight rebounds in the win against Southern Oregon and grabbed five more in the matchup with Oregon Tech, showcasing his ability to control the boards on both ends of the court.
In addition to his defensive efforts, Rogers made a significant impact offensively, scoring 25 points across the two games while shooting an impressive 78.6% from the field (11-of-14). His efficient play highlighted his value as a two-way contributor for the Yotes.
This marks the third week in a row a Yote has claimed Cascade Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, with Drew Wyman and Tyler Robinett earning the award in the previous two weeks. The Yotes are proving themselves as a defensive force early in the season.
