LARAMIE, Wyo. — College of Idaho fell 80-63 in an exhibition matchup against the University of Wyoming on Friday, with the game serving a greater purpose beyond the scoreline. In a collaborative effort, both schools partnered with the Jae Foundation to promote mental health awareness and suicide prevention, particularly for young people.
On the court, the Yotes fought hard but were outpaced by the Cowboys, who shot 57.7% from the field. Wyoming was led by Touko Tainamo with 18 points and Dontaie Allen with 13, including four 3-pointers. College of Idaho saw balanced contributions, as Alex Germer scored a team-high 13 points, and Straton Rogers added 12 points and five rebounds.
"Proud of our team tonight for their tremendous effort and fight," said College of Idaho head coach Colby Blaine. "We battled against a very physical and deep Mountain West team deep into the second half. We are extremely thankful for Wyoming Basketball, Coach Wicks, and the Jae Foundation for allowing us to be part of this experience. We firmly believe in the foundation's mission and can't wait to share it with more people throughout our season."
The trip allowed Bryan St. Clair to play in front of a home crowd for the first time in his four years at CI. The Fort Washaike native had multiple busses of fans travel from his Reservation excited to see him go 1-1 from the three point line.
The Jae Foundation, a key partner for both teams, was honored during the game, highlighting the importance of mental health support and resources for students and communities.
